The UK has the usual CD1 and CD2, both manufactured in the E.U. Strangly though, only the CD2 has promo sticker!

As with all CD singles from Confessions, the Jump discs appear quite basic, probably something to do with cost cutting and using Eastern-European contries to manaufacture these things cheaper. Both CD1 and CD2 come with gate-fold inserts.

UK CD1

CD1 comes with W744CD1 catalogue number and carries the following mixes:

UK CD2

CD1 comes with W744CD2 catalogue number and carries the following mixes and also includes an unreleased track History! The casing also gives reference to this in the way of a red rectangular promo sticker:

It’s the I’m Going to Tell You a Secret DVD, the full promo DVD with the extras as on the shop bought version. This was purchased from France and carries a Pal logo on the disc indicating it will play in regions 2, 3, 4 and 5. The disc itself is silver on both sides and is professionally pressed.

ANOTHER RADIO STATION PROMO?

Here is a similar promo DVD, it originated from a Radio Station so may be real?

This is all white and has the DVD and WB logo only and originated from a UK radio station where it was not much use to them. I'll add more info as I get it. If you own one or know whether this is indeed a real or fake pressing please let me know.

Thanks to good collector friend from France for all the information shown below on this rather scarce item.

This is the mega rare Madonna EU 2-track CDR acetate promo, including short message by Madonna herself and comes with custom inlay. Country of origin: EU (However, there is nothing printed on the CD or inlay that states the country of manufactory but as far as I know, it was only distributed within the EU)

This is on the Maverick label and dated 2003 with following tracks:

• American life (New radio edit - No rap)
• Call out hook by Madonna

As you certainly know; that nowadays, more common CD-R promos are actually quite easy to forge. As a result of this, I (Benoît) only buy my promo items from very reliable sources. This specific item is pulled from a collection of CDs purchased directly from an employee at the Swedish national broadcasting company (Sveriges Radio), and I can assure you that it is the real thing.

I was first told in the beginning of August about the existance of a new and promotional only box set issued to promote Madonna and limited to just 100! It has finally appeared and its rather cool!

This is a mega rare media-only box set given out to selected media who were invited to watch Madonna live at her concerts. These lucky people were gifted this rather stunning item when they arrived. It's a black box-set with 15 albums, 1 DVD and 1 maxi CD inside. This is 100% official but you wont see these on sale commercially anywhere!

The box is made of black card, simlar to the Japanese box set, and the top of the outer box has the words "MADONNA THE COMPLETE COLLECTION" embossed in gold and white, which I guess is exactly what it is! The outside of the outer box has the album (and maxi single) titles printed around the outside on multi-coloured text.

The CDs, all 17 are housed in a draw which forms the inside of the box and can be slid out to show the spines of the CDs inside. This is also made of the same black card and is rather nicely manufactured.

Interestingly, each of the 17 CDs has a small "PROMOTIONAL ONLY NOT FOR RE-SALE" sticker on the outer case. These stickers are always used by Warners to denote promo copies of CDs, DVDs, etc. The actual CDs are the same one that can be bought in shops. The American Life is equally interesting because its insert is made from recycled paper and is not shiny like inserts usualy are, insted it's more plain and has a mat finish. The recycled paper insert CD album can be found in shops but is far scarcer than the usual 'shiny' card insert which is NOT made this way.

I have been reliably told that there are NO plans to release such a box-set with similar contents or size to this media-only one! This is a unique one-off and limited to about 100. If you know more about this media-only box set or a commercial release please tell me.

Thought I better mention that here in UK at the weekend (Friday 25 August) on Pete Tong's show here on Radio 1 his guest AXWELL played his own remix of JUMP as part of the Hot Mix Part 1.

Axwell's remix was actually rather good and I seem to remember hearing another remix of Jump the week before s it's certain for release very soon. I am sure it will do better that the ill faited Get Together!

This is a collectors item that will not appear to every Madonna afficiado out there but to us die-hards it's gonna be added to the collection all the same.

Madonna & Crew Love H&M - Tracksuits - selling fast!

H&M here in UK have just launched (Aug 24th 2006) a tracksuit set endorsed by Madonna (and her crew!). The tracksuits comes as a top and bottoms and are all made from 100% polyester, machine washable with ribbed cuffs and ribbed around the neck. They come in sizes 6 - 14 so far and colours: black, white & purple. Black, size 10, has apparently SOLD OUT! This looks like the rare one.

These are limited and it does appear that many of these have now sold out across the UK. They were retailing at about £20 (£19.99) for the tracksuit top and £15 (£14.99) for the tracksuit bottoms but I susspect this price will rise initially as people grab the last remaining tracksuits in the most popular size & colour!

The tracksuit is actually rather nice and designed for woman and are a skinny fit. The garments have a pink label sown into the them which authenticates them with the words "MADONNA (love heart) H&M". They also come with a pink card label fixed to the zip. Inside the pink card label are the words: "THIS TRACKSUIT WAS ESPECIALLY DESIGNED FOR ME" and Madonna's signiture.

These are apparently limited and as soon as I know exactly how many are set for sale I will update this page. I think about 2000 to 3000 so fairly limited! If anyone can take some nice big shots of the white and purple tracksuits please let me know as I would love to add these here also! Likewise I am after pictures of any memorabilia associated with these.

The UK finally has more cover magazines. A couple of months ago in June we had The Face and since then nothing, until now, and two have surfaced this week!

WOMAN (dated: September 4th 2006)

Madonna has been on countless Woman magazines here in the UK over the years and once again we get one more. The cover is a stock image with a two page feature inside called "Madonna has finally grown up!". This includes pictures of Madonna and family and also an H&M tracksiut shot! The article is an interview with Tony, Madonna's Dad!

FIRST (dated: August 23rd - 29th 2006)

This is a fairly new UK weekly magazine and Issue 15 features Madonna on it's cover. Includes a four page article titled: "MADONNA WHY SHE WANTS TO BE A MUM AGAIN AT 48" and includes various shots of Madonna's friends and as well as Her and Guy and another of the family relaxing!

This is a rather scarce USA promo LP for Confessions On A Dance Floor. It has a plain white sleeve and comes with two discs offering four sides of music.

It has PRO-A-101706-A catalogue number so appears to be an advanced pressing, although I doubt it appeared much before the albums's release, if at all! Madonna made sure only limited people gained access to the material until it was officially launched.

This is a really interesting promo DVD that UK collector Alan has emailed me about. I have enclosed his original email as he brilliantly describes it:

It’s a Promo DVD of the Launch Graphics that was used for the listening parties for the album launch; it plays the whole CD along with the graphics on the screen.

The DVD is in PAL format and is not professionally pressed, it is a DVDR version, it has 12 chapters to coincide with the number of tracks on the CD, but the unusual thing about it, is that the chapters don’t actually match up with the track beginnings, so either someone didn’t know how to chapter it correctly or it was done like that for a reason.

I’ve enclosed a picture of the actual DVD and a screenshot of the menu on the DVD. I have no idea how many of these have been produced. This is the only known promo of any kind I have seen for the COADF album, could be very rare?

Well, I actually has a dream about Madonna limited editions including a picture disc, how sad! And a few days after I heard that the UK was to have one for Get Together!

This is a super cool 12" picture disc and the first since DTM back in 2000! Long gone are the days of a new picture disc for every release, ahhhhh, the old days of Madonna.

This has W725T catalogue number and black circular promo sticker with 'M' logo and track details, etc. The sticker also includes W--- and 9362--- catalogune numbers so there may be a Euro version with NO W--- reference but time will tell! The UK ones do have the copyright wording more similar to that of the Amercian pressings so these may be UK only? These certainly give no reference to E.U. pressing!

Interestingly the A side picture is not the Madonna, Stuart and gang shot but the disco ball Madonna image! The usual shot is reserved for the B-side!? Not sure how limited these actually are yet? Tracks are:

This is what appears to be an amazing Swedish promo CD? This is the first time I have seen one with remixes and if real it is certainly going to be on the 'top collectables' list for Get Together!

Titled MADONNA Get Together - DJ Mixes, with WMSPROM5146 catalogue number. This is a 6 Track Get Together Promo from Sweden. The CD itself is a CDR, but on the other side it’s professionally printed (not a cd label just stuck on). The tracks are same as the Euro maxi CD but slightly different timings on two of its mixes (1&6)! The tracks on this one are:

SORRY DVD PROMO CD

If real this is certainly going to be sought after! It's a promo DVD of Sorry issued by Warner Bros. Records and dated 02/15/2006. Has W/O#281700 catalogue number and does look real!

The disc is a DVDr and has the label stuck directly onto it like the latest and now mega rare discoball CD promo for GT here in UK. The label on the DVD promo has matching detail to its perforated insert (comes in poly sleeve) and shows an additional 'Reprise Records' logo which is basically Warner video however it also has a Maverick logo? Why would this be there? This is what makes me doubt its authenticity? But I may be wrong?

HUNG UP DVD PROMO CD

So there is also a Hung Up promo DVD issued in Ireland by Warners there so there is every chance that this is from the same source as the Sorry DVD promo above, and may be USA manufactured?

Hung Up promo DVD has similar design to Sorry but this one does come in thick jewel case with insert, rather than poly sleeve, and same logos including Maverick logo! This is dated 10/25/2005 and has W/O#265015 catalogue number. This has the following video:

This is yet another really scarce pressing that Alan F from UK has bought to my attention recently (Thanks again mate). This is a DVD Trailer promo for IGTTYAS.

This is a rare promo DVD with trailer for the I'm Going to Tell You a Secret DVD. It only lasts 2 minutes and 33 seconds and the DVD itself is not professionally pressed; it's a burned DVDR Disc and is silver on the other side with details listed on the disc. This promo originated from Germany and has a 2 page press release to go with it, I've also included a screenshot of the menu from the DVD.

UK 1 MIX PROMO CD-R

There is a 1 mix promo CD-r with perforated insert in poly sleeve. As usual nowadays the one mix perforated CD-r promo is scarce! These are probably only sent our direct to radio DJs so not many reach us collectors although their price tag is still fairly low considdering their scarcity.

UK 6 MIX PROMO CD-R

Now this is RARE and was manufactured 'in-house' at WEA for promotional use only and were probably sent to DJ's at the beginning of the Get Together promotional release. This may actually be the Swedish promo but I will update this when I see this promo for myself.

MEGA RARE UK REMIX PROMO CD-Rs

Now these are very scarce and as soon as I get an image of these I will add them here for all to see. Remix CD-rs have been bought to my attention although the source will remain a secret!

WOW!! This ws my first thought when I saw the new Get Together 'discoball' artwork UK promo vinyl (and matching promo CD)!!

Everyone who grabbed the Hung Up 'discoball' artwork promo 12" will know just how special these are and if you did not manage to secure one in the first place, you will also know how impossible it now is to locate another copy!

UK DISCOBALL PROMO 12" PR015953

The new Get Together UK 12" promo appears to be very scarce indeed, probably the same as the Hung Up copies. These are equally beautiful, totally amazing! They have nice thick card covers with boxed edges and the back of the sleeve is die-cut to show the DJ the label inside. The record has picture artwork labels on both sides!

These are so cool. The actual 'discoball' artwork is different to the Hung Up and has Madonna's face behind the discoball graphic! This has PR015953 catalogue number and I am certain these are goiong to be very hard to acquire in the future.

UK DISCOBALL PROMO CD PR015952

These are equally interesting in a few ways. Firstly they have matching artwork to the vinyl, but more interesting is their manufacture. Look closely and you can clearly see that they started life as replacement CD-r for the initial and mis-printed perforated insert CD-r that appeared two weeks earlier; this pressing even has the track times & WB logo printed onto the disc, although the white discoball artwork has been stuck over the top at a later time!

The reason I say replacement is because the disc on the newer 'discoball' promo CD shows the 'Edit' version for the second track, Jacques Lu Cont Vocal Edit. This remix was 'incorrectly' listed for track 2 on the perforated CD-r promo insert, although it actually played the longer 'Jacques Lu Cont Mix 6:17' remix, which was how it was listed on the disc!

So looks like Warners have finally got it right and track 2 now plays the shorter 'Edit'. Just for the sake of being thorough, I thought I should mention that the track times on the 'discoball' promo CD vary slightly to the original perforated insert promo times by a few seconds; and to top it off the third track is now called 'Kinky/Funk' with a forward slash added!

This is a rather interesting Argentine 15 mix compilation promo CD issued for DJs in Argentina.

This has 'PRCD 2078' catalogue number and includes two different versions of the Pet Shop Boys Remixes released by Warner Music Argentina. Includes the following Sorry remixes:

2. Sorry - PSB Remix Edit 2 (4.32)

Interestingly the PSB Remix Edit 2 appers not to be able to be found on CD format apart from on this promo compilation! Otherwise only available as a download!

This is a true rarity, issued as always by Warner Music Australia, it's the first promo CD for Sorry, titled Sorry Remixes, with promo Catalog Number WCDB835. This CD was going to released however as it was labelled incorrectly they decided it would not be released and it was immediately destroyed.

Track 1 is listed as 'Man With Guitar Mix - 7.22', it should be listed as 'Paul Oakenfold Remix', hence it was withdrawn and all copies were destroyed.

In general the reissued CD singles come with yellow discs and always have, ever since they first appeared here in UK and also in Germany way back in the 90's. However I have seen throughout the last few years copies with white discs?

I don't know much else about these white disc versions other than the fact theat there is at least three different pressings with white discs:

1. Burning Up
2. Borderline
3. Vogue

A QUICK UPDATE!

It does appear that these white disc versions are UK pressings and reissues! Maybe all of the German CD reissues will be reissued once again for the UK market with white discs.

Not sure who knows about this pressing but its an apparent promo for COADF. The thing about the album promos is basically "THERE ARN'T ANY!". Warners and Madonna insured these, where made, were strictly controlled to avoid the tracks ending up as ilegal downloads!

If this is not FAKE then its RARE! It appears to have perforated insert and comes in plastic walet like most UK CD-r promos and has seven mixes taken from the album.

Sorry has produced three scarce UK CD-r promos. The first being a two mix in plain titled perforated insert. This was scarce and I saw very few of these! The next was the three mix in perforated insert with picture as used for the single's release. This was limited to 100 so is also scarce! However there is a third promo which most of you have never seen umtil now!

Sorry was released on CD-r promo format with the usual white titled perforated insert with three Pet Shop Boy remixes. This includes the following mixes:

1. Sorry (PSB Remix Edit) 4:32
2. Sorry (PSB UK Remix Mix) 4:12
3. Sorry (PSB Radio Edit) 4:20

This particular pressing is rumoured to have been limited to just 20 copies and these would have been sent strictly to DJ's and other important parties!

Thought, seeing as Warners have tightened-up to such a degree that we may not get UK promo pressings for Madonna tracks again, I would list as many UK promo CD-r pressings as I can. Warners are testing a new FTP server which will mean the end of promos on disc, replaced by downloads only!

There seem to be three main types of official UK CD-r:

1. Those issued to promote (occasional In-house use), generally coming in plastic envelope, usually with perforated inserts. Some are rare!
2. Those issued to promote or test, coming in jewel cases, with white custom-cut insert, usually with stamped text. Usually quite rare!
3. Those issued for In-House use only, similar to the jewel ones above. Rare!

1.  PICTURE SLEEVE & PERFORATED INSERT PROMO CD-R

I remember when I first saw a CD-r promo being used as an alternative to the factory pressed promo CDs we have been long used to seeing and collecting. This was issued for Don't Tell Me from Music album. These were released, only to be withdrawn almost instantly, however most copies are still in circulation.

There was however another CD-r promo issued previous. This was for Music! This was to my knowledge the first PROMO CD-r! This is very hard to find and certainly one of the rarest ones.

Since Don't Tell Me, many easy to acquire CD-r promos have appeared plus some rarer ones. I guess the rarest is the recent three mix PSB CD-r limited to 20. Other rare ones include: Both Music, DTM in artwork slip case, 8-mix WIFLFAG, Impressive Instant, GHV2 In-House, American Life with Missy Elliott or Peter Rauhofer mixes, Hung Up Chus remixes and the Sorry 3-mix with artwork insert are all very hard to find now and will cost upwards of £40 mint!

The following, while not as rare as the ones above, are scarce and more hard to acquire than the rest not mention yet but listed below: Amazing, either GHV2 w/pic artwork, any Thunderpuss GHV2 Megamix, Nothing Fails & Hung Up w/ Tracy Young remix. These will cost around £30 to £40 in mint! All others can be acquired for as little as a fiver, up to £15+ for he DAD 9-mix!

2.  JEWEL CASE PROMO/TEST CD-R

These are far more scarce than the type above and are manufactured by MASTERPIECE music MASTERING services here in UK. Though more scarce than perforated promos above these generally cost very little to acquire.

I actually like these and their plain white inserts, custom-shaped perfectly to fit the jewel casing help add to their charm. The inserts are cut same as commercial inserts but plain white thick paper.

The earliest ones were release for Nothing Really Matters with a few appearing since. They have same disc as the perforated promos but seem to be pressed more for poduction use rather than promotionsl use. I know the American Pie pressing was LTD to just 20 and was for in-house use ony so rare!!

These are similar to Security Service CD-rs and other 'production' CD-rs listed under &qiot;OTHER UK CD-Rs&qiot; but should not be mistaken for these.
