I just received this awesome promo here from Warner Music Australia. Its a battery operated Madonna Promo Disco Ball. It comes in an Awesome box, has an on/off switch on the base and comes with instruction manual. It also has a 1.5VDC, 200mA adapter in place. When you press the ON switch - Mirror Ball will begin to rotate. The manual also says you can hang mirror ball.

There were only 8 of these items made available in Australia. I'm pretty sure its not an Australian Promo only. I believe its a UK promo item that was sent here to Warner Music Australia. If anyone has any info on this please email me here. Its just an Awesome promo item issued to Warner Music Australia and I would now have to include an one of my extremely rare items that I have obtained in recent years.

The UK has two brand new Madonna cover magazines, Mix Mag and Tatler!

Mix Mag - cover dated: December 2005 available now, mid Nov until mid Dec. Comes with free CD, not Madonna though! The rather dated 'shhhhh' full cover is titled: "Driving Ms Ravey" and includes a rather good 7pg article all about Madonna's relationship with UK DJ/Producer Stuart Price, titled: "When Madonna Met Stuart". Also includes details on the many other 'big' DJ/Producers Madonna has worked with! Its a good article.

Tatler - cover dated December 2005 available now, mid Nov until mid Dec. This is a beautiful magazine, though heavy! The full cover with new shot from COAD is titled: "Her Most Intimate Confessions". I am not 100% certain whats inside as mine is still sealed, which is how these now come sold in the UK. If someone can tell me more please do so and I'll post details here.

Belgium has a card sleeve CD single imported from Germany 5439 15896 2; this is the same one that France receives! The card sleeve CD is quite cool because it has a so-far unique back sleeve design! These usually come sealed when first sold!

Interestingly Belgium also have the CD2 maxi CD 9362 42848 2
This is very similar to the UK pressing but does not come with the usual black promo sticker! The back sleeve also is without the UK 'W****' catalogue number, instead only offering the '9362...' one! This is what usually denotes a UK or NON UK pressing where no obvious differences are apparent!

This is typical of Aussy promo CDs and has colour insert and factory made disc by the looks of it! Great! Catalogue number: PRO 15608, YES I know, it's the same catalogue number as the UK promo????? Strange but true.

Aussy promo CDs can look almost 'home made' but this one a great. Interestingly, the logos include a Maverick one, which does not seem to be the case for most pressings so far, most of which carry the WB logo only!? Includes the following two mixes:

Hung Up Album Version 5.37

As usual the German made card sleeve CD single has appeared. These do seem to be only manufactured for French stores despite their German Manufacture. This has a cool back cover design!

Both pressings are "Manufactured In EU" and have the W**** catalogune number listed before the '9362...' one; these were manufactured for the UK market only! I know that the CD2 from outside the UK has NO 'W***' catalogue number!!!

If anyone has CD1 and CD2 in their country let me know if they differ from these UK ones?

We should get a Hung Up double 12" here in UK PLUS a vinyl LP (double) of COAD!!!!, both of which look like remaining UK ONLY & not to be issued in Europe outside UK! Thes will however be manufactured in Germany/EU!

Likewise the UK is set to get a LTD CD album next week which is also set to be UK ONLY and may no longer be issued in Europe, outside the UK!!!

The USA is set to have totally different mixes to UK & Europe so watch out for their CD maxi and 12".

Here in the UK we have this cool "English Roses and Other Stories" boxset.

I am not sure how many have been manufactured but this is advertised as a limited edition giftset. Says this on the box: "Plus in this exclusive limited edition giftset: A bonus disc featuring unique multimedia material, and five exclusive postcards, unavailable anywhere else!"

CD 1 contains the five books read by Madonna while disc 2 has the additional multimedia features! There is also five cool postcards, one for each book written in the series.

This is a German promo 7" of Hung Up with Radio Edit. It's a mega rare one-sided, white label German pressing.

There has been the occasional 7" promo pressed but these are very scarce and very few seem to appear. More often this sort of promo is 12"! I am not certain where this originates from or whether it's genuine, so if anyone knows more please tell me!

This is an update on what I know about this 7" (and badges & postcards) issued in Germany only (Thanks Adam!):

The 7" singles, badges and postcards were all given out at a "Confessions - Pre-Release Party" in Germany. The badges were limited to about 150 as thats how many people were invited to the party and everyone had one. The postcards may be limited to about 250 but this is not known for sure, and the 7" singles were only given to V.I.P guests, so they were limited to about 50!

Intersting point by another BIG UK collector:

I reckon the 7" is a fake. There's no writer, publisher or even GEMA info on the label. Also - apart from the first US Promo 12" for the single - nothing else has a Maverick logo on regarding the album.

I spotted a new mini hard back version of the first Madonna story book, English Roses! This is about A5 in size and rather cute.

The FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINT is currently available; these carry the following numbers within the copyright page: 1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2.

Has ISBN: 0-141-38180-9 number and is on Puffin Books as usual. This is the only mini hardback availabile right now but the others are certain to follow.

Here is the first UK/World promo CD coming in the form of a mega rare (LTD to 150) 30 second ringtone 'snippet' CD-r in perforated insert sleeve and polythene envelope. The disc is plain media with basic track detail as are most of these official CD-rs!

Just thought I'd mention this pressing as I am not sure whether its genuine of just another bootleg!

This is a ten mix CDR pressed on plain media with photocopied paper insert cut roughly from a sheet of paper. The actual photocopy includes various scribbles including mix times and starts denoting the mixes which are: "NOT MASTERED".

The CDR is apparently "individually watermarked with a unique identification number...". The disc itself is plain and has NO test printed anywhere and has very lightly printed numbers across the inner part unlike the usual CDRs which have bold clear numbers.

If You have one or have seen one or know anything about this please contact me as I am keen to discover the facts about this strange pressing!

This is an interesting email from George Wilk regarding the ETV release below.

I was in charge of programming, editing and aquisitions for Videolink, then ET/Videolink, then ETV Network for about 12 years. ETV never produced any artist compilations. It was against the liscensing agreement with the labels. Typo's and spelling errors were not uncommon though.

There were several special Madonna edits included on the reels over the years. Your image of the Feb. Power Dance disc looks legit. Produced after I left ETV, the 9 song comp is a complete rip off.

I have just received this rather interesting image of another ETV Network DVD promo. These are technically promos but should not be confused with Maverick/Warner promos that are manufactured by Madonna’s record company to promote her music and video.

ETV Network is basically a company which produces and manufactures music video compilations on DVD format to be used by their members. Members must be DJs or other ‘official’ persons who are in the music/DJ business.

The 9 video DVD is unique in that it is solely Madonna and comes in a rather nice Madonna insert. The disc is printed and carries basic details including the ETV Network address in Burbank CA, also home of Maverick! The inner part of the disc should also include ETV Network in tiny letters which appears as part of the disc design.

I have checked the ETV website and have asked them to clarify which promos they have pressed with Madonna videos and I will list these here shortly – I promise!

I have a genuine ETV Network promo which is titled Power Dance 02 03 and includes the Die Another Day - Brother Brown Re-mix video (trk 15) and also Like A Prayer - Remix (trk 39). This is dated, obviously, February 2003 and is fairly limited. My copy has ETV Network printed disc with their logo and "CHECK AUDIO LEVELS BEFORE EACH USE" along with the usual promotional only warnings and their address in CA, USA.

If anyone has one of these tell me and I will feature it here. Can you also tell me about the sleeve that yours comes with and whether it is photocopied or printed, etc, mine is photocopied?

I have a list of about five other DVDs from ETV with Madonna video tracks on them and I'll add it here later this week, along with pictures!

Interestingly, a good friend and fellow UK collector did mention to me that the 9mix DVD mentioned above is in fact nothing more than a bootleg? He accurately noted:

" it is NOT an official item. This is pretty easily spotted by the number of spelling mistakes and simple title errors of the remixes "Vision", "Brothers Brown" etc."

" I certify you that it is a 100% original, official and guenine item since I acquired it from a guy working in ETV company. Furthermore, this DVD contains remixed music videos in full length version and in superb quality (DVD quality) whereas these were never released in this format ( DVD quality and full length version (Not mixed with the following song). Bootleg copies are in very bad quality whereas this DVD contains remixed music videos in superb quality. "

This message is from a guy who owns many original ETV promos:

" That ETV DVD is defintely a bootleg. Firstly, ETV doesnt press any specific artists DVD (they would have been pressed by Maverick or WB instead). Secondly, ETV has merged with Promo Only. The Oakenfold Mix of Hollywood wasnt released by ETV, but Promo Only (at least thats what I was told). The Avidivva Mix for it was, howver, released by ETV. "

I have checked the ETV website and they do list a 'Brothers Brown' remix under their Madonna listings of all tracks released through them? So there is evidence that this strangely titled Brothers with an 's' is correct! However only three Brothers Brown remixes are listed and these all have different reel numbers which means that all three never appeared on a single disc/video? Two of them actually appeared on the 'Feb 2003' editions from ETV including one on the DVD I mentioned owning above, although the track is correctly titled on the sleeve itself!

Thought I'd mention three of the better Madonna features in todays (4th July) newspapers following the Live8 concert on Saturday. If anyone has more please email me and let me know!

These are not technically covers but covers on supplements, well apart from Daily Mail which did feature Madonna on much of the newspapers cover, but I've included a picture here anyway!

This is the first UK cover that I am aware of. Its on the Telegraph newspaper supplement: "Souvenir Live8 Edition". Featured Madonna and Birhan Woldu embracing during the Madonna set at Live8 (2nd July).

The general consensus is that Madonna is still the undisputed QUEEN OF POP! Must admit she did steel the moment, well until Robbie turned up! As Madonna mentioned herself, there is new song material being written right now, so let’s hope for a new and exciting album to follow. Maybe even see another collaboration with the production god William Orbit!

The latest Grazia cover, dated 27th June boasts "Madonna's amazing interview with Grazia" and rather shy looking Madonna on the cover!

"MADONNA: I've been so lonely for much of my life" feature covers six pages and includes nice shots of Her and Guy, kids etc. Also mentions the later Madonna story book: "Lotsa De Casha" which is now out on Puffin books!

Received scans from an Australian, Christian, who bought what he thought was a GHV2 promo CD but ended out being a fake!

I think its fare to say that this is an easy to spot fake, hence Christian contacted me to tell me about it!

The picture discs do look similar but the inner catalogue numbers are a give-a-way. These numbers appear on all CDR media and dont appear on the real thing, which is factory pressed! The picture on the real thing goes to the center of the disc.

Recently acquired a copy of the Peter Rauhoffer promo 12" vinyl. This has NO Madonna cover but does feature Peter Rauhoffer playing live at the Roxy, hence it's title: "Rauhoffer Live @ Roxy" NY. His set includes his own remix of 'Mother And Father', Peter Rauhoffer Re-Invention Mix. This is issued on *69, catalogue number: STAR 12951

This is the most recent UK magazine called Eve which appeared beginning April 2005. Nothing new as far as the cover shot, its that olf favourite: Next Best Thing era picture. The magazine actually comes sealed in a poly bag as it comes with free bag?! The cover reads: "MADONNA Her style rules that work for every woman" and inside features the article.

A few weeks ago I mention a rather rare Music 7" WLTP which Tony acquired. More recently I acquired the American Life 12" WLTP which plays one side only! This is actually more of a promo than a TP to be honest, but the pressing does call itself a "TESTPRESSING" on the label!

A more recent pressing is Love Profusion which comes with totally white labels; more similar to Music 7" than the American Life WLTP. Love Profusion 12" WLTP is certainly scarce, selling initially for about £100, although these can be found for around £30 if you try very hard!

Do you have any similar UK (or German) WLTP pressings for any tracks taken from the Music album? Let me know please. Also I am interested in any UK (or German) WLTP issued since Ray Of Light back in '98!

The UK American Pie CD2 should correctly have the following three tracks: Album Version 4:34, R H V Radio Mix 4:29 & R H V V Madonna 5:44!

I have another thing to let you know. While I was copying some singles on my pc, look what has appeared when I put the AMERICAN PIE CD2 (the pink one, code W519CD2): it is mastered as AMERICAN PIE US CD, and the three tracks are titled as the first three tracks of the limited-edition CD3 (W519CD3). Strange, isn’t it?

Why not check your CD collection and see what strange tracks appear when you pop them into your computer. I have noticed that many UK CD singles have the wrong catalogue numbers pressed into their inner circle. Likewise some promo CDS issued here in UK will actually be mastered as a regular CD single and the catalogue number on the disc's inner circle shows the regular numbers and NOT the promo catalogue number! Possibly a money saving idera?

I have seen this pressing on a number of occasions but still am not too sure whether its 100% original? The 'fancy' typeface and the fact that it's way pre Music leads to susspision?

Moreover, here are pictures of my copy for ANOTHER SUITCASE IN ANOTHER HALL that I recently bought on Ebay.

Though all tracks are timed at 3:33, the Master Mix and the Album Version end at that time as well as the TV Mix (which is the instrumental version, actually). The Radio Edit is 3:27 long and the TV Radio Edit (an edit of the instrumental version) is 3:25.

The Master Mix version is virtually identical to the Album Version, but if you listen carefully to the track you can clearly hear that Madonna’s vocals are much clearer and louder than the regular track appeared on the soundtrack.

There are no codes for this promo cd and even I am not 100% sure that this is official, but the quality of the tracks and the printing on the cd itself make me think it is a sort of in-house cd.

The only code I could found is on the plastic near the hole: PE182855956899.

Thought I would share this little pressing with everyone. Firstly thanks to Tony Barton for letting me know about this item which he acquired.

This is a 7" white lable test pressings for Music. It has totally white lables with no text at all, simlar to the 12" test pressings from back in the 80's for tracks like Holiday and Into The Groove. It does however have a distinguishable 'W537' catalohue number scratched into the run-out groves suggesting it was pressed to test the juke box single of Music....

....however, Music juke box single was released with Music Groove Armada Remix, yet this test pressing plays Impressive Instant on the B-side?

Do you have a copy, or do you have similar pressings released for the Music album? Let me know please.

Another rather rare item Tony Barton shared with me was his Everybody 12" white label test pressing!

This is a stunning WLTP 12" issued back in 1982 for the French release of Everybody. It has white labels with just the basic details stamped onto it including No: 9 29889 0, Editeur: WEA, Face: A and the date: 22 NOV 1982. Its a truely beautiful item!

If anyone any other official UK 7" and 12" white lable test pressings let me know what you have!

First of all Thanks for the email Daniel Jimenez, I assume you are from Spain!? Daniel had acquired a Swedish CD single of Nothing Fails and I was certain that no such a pressing exists.

For ages now Esprit and most other major dealers have been selling apparent Swedish Madonna CD singles and as far as I am aware there are just regular German pressings.

Daniel emailed me a scan of the Swedish 3 mix CD single for Nothing Fails (9362 42697-2) and it looks identical to the German copy I own, every line of text, etc appears the same. Both this and the German CD are made in EU and the Swedish copy has NO mention of Sweden or Scandinavia anywhere!

I am aware that the card sleeve CD singles manufactured in Germany, for about 10 years now, are sold generally outside Germany in France for example, and are for export use mainly. Likewise, many CD singles and albums are now made outside Germany in other EU countries, hence the addition of Made In EU, insted of the original Made In Germany that we have all grown used to seeing.

The cover of Slovak TV guide 'Televízia' reads: "I have to save the world - She's the Messiah who shows the way for humanhood" and includes a cool shot of Madonna! It was issued on 25th October 2004 (#44).

Inside, (page 12) has an article about 'How celebrities are looking for the truth through kaballah' (see scans below), page 13 has photo of Tom Cruise's scielentoligal temple in Madrid!?

Inside the magazine, page 27, comes with a full-sized article about how Madonna added club tunes to her music. There's text: "10 years ago", she said "techno is dead, the music didn't have any soul and power, it was cold. But now it's become the one with soul. My music is not pure technology, it's got soul and is really TRACK". (..see scans)

Page 28 comes with 2nd part of the article with info about her co-work with Sasha, William Orbit etc. There's track by track review of the Music album's tracks on the left with also photo with info about William Orbit on the right, and first part of the article: "I Wanna dance with my baby aka 12 more danceable tracks" at the bottom starting with first 6 covers and short info. (There was no Madonna CD included with this magazine, only mixed techno set by czech DJ Trava)

Next: page 29 came with the last part of the article where Madonna expresses her love to the French and UK's electronic music, next article about Mirwais, second part of "12 most danceable tracks" with also 'Da real shit' article where are 10 worst dance remixes listed.

Page 30 features a re-written Ali G's interview with Madonna on Channel 4. Plus a large article: 'How is vinyl produced', it's an article about factory in Prague which manufactures vinyls for a long time. This article gives an interesting piece of info about Madonna Music 12" picture disc: "7,200 copies of Madonna's picture disc for Music were manufactured for the whole world, back in July 2000".

I know this pressing came out nearly four years ago but I keep getting email from collectors about the Skin promo and test releases from USA. So here is a great scan of the mega rare USA Maverick Digital Clone CDR. As the disc clearly states it was pressed 28th April 2000 (insert states revised '1st May' date) and contains the "Madonna Skin Collaboration Remix, remixed by Peter Rauhoffer & Victor Calderone". The insert is typical of the earlier official USA CDR pressings.

The second version of the Skin CDR is the one pictured to the right. It is basically the same as the one above but has the date covered with thick black pen. Incidently the date on the insert of this variation is earlier: 18th April 2000 (May 1st on the other pressing). Likewise this pressing has NO date on the disc, instead it show it as 00/00/00.

Ivo Cometto from Italy bought his copy from EIL here in UK and He mentioned to me that his pressing, same as this one, has a code printed on the inner part of the disc. There is also a second code on the back of the disc! I wonder if the others do?

The third version of the Skin CDR is the one pictured to the right. It is basically the same as the one above but has NO date at all anywhere?

The fourth version of the Skin CDR is the one pictured to the right. It is basically the same as the 2nd one above with the date concealed by thick black marker pen (and possibly 18th April), however it's disc clearly shows the earlier 18th April 2000 date!. (Thanks Jürgen)

If YOU have an official Skin pressing on official Maverick CDR or Maverick promo, can you let me know, with scans if possible, as I want to clarify exactly what Skin releases actually surfaced in the end.

Elton John did not make it, neither did The Who, Oasis, or even George Michael, but our Madonna DID and didn't she look fine!

The first ever UK Music Hall Of Fame inaugurated Madonna as their choice of the 90's and I must admit it was the best choice. I would say though wonuldn't I!

Thanks Tony Barton from here in the UK for a rather interesting scan of what appears to be a totally official ‘Extended Maxi Single’ Like A Prayer cassette single from the Philippines!!

This is without a doubt a very collectable items and no wonder Tony’s email said just the words: " I want one of these!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!". The cassette single has full insert sleeve and beautifully matching paper labels. Contains the following mixes: side One; Like A Prayer 12" Dance Remix, 12" Extended Remix and Churchapella; side two: 12" Club Version, 7" Remix/Edit, Act Of Contrition LP Version ( and Like A Prayer 12" Club Version again?).

This is manufactured by Warner Bros which is correct for this type of pressing and carried unique ‘M5 DS 224’ catalogue number.

If anyone has any other official cassettes from Philippines or any other Pacific country close by please let me know, scans would be great!

Just spotted a strange 'so called' European limited edition American Life 12" single with limited edition poster?

It is advertised as a limited edition and one of ten, but not sure how official this actually is? It is basically a regular pressing with a promo sticker added (W603TX on the sticker). The promo sticker appears to include a number from 1 to 10 with a sticker for each of the ten in this limited run made only for Osprey Records, a UK record store.

If anyone has one let me know what you think. I susspect these are not actually a WEA limited edition as there were certainly none available when American Life was initially released.

I did contact them and they confirmed that they repackaged the 12" with their promo sticker and poster!?

Thanks to Giovanni Mantilla (giofabman@hotmail.com) for these rather nice images of the Colombian CD promo issued for Amazing. I was always in doubt about the originality of this pressing. Giovanni contacted me with these images to show that this is indeed an official Colombian pressing and officially issued by Warner Music Colombia. Thanks!

Includes Amazing 3:43. This is a really nice promo item and comes in cool jewel casing with full colour gatefold insert. These are similar to the Brazilan promo CDs. If anyone has other official South American promo CDs let me know!

This is the latest UK cover magazine, issued this month, August, 2004. Comes with a four page article on Madonna's happiness with hubby and kids. Includes some of those 'flat-cap' pictures of Madonna and Guy.
