Thought it was time to mention the German commercial Hollywood pressings that have surfaced so far. These will look similar to the UK ones but in most cases will carry Made In Germany within their design, which many of the UK ones don't! Also the German pressings will generally not include a 'W****' catalogue prefix within the design.

CARD SLEEVE CD SINGLE
The card sleeve CD singles are Made In Germany and are genarally sold there along with France and Holland. The Hollywood CD single has two mixes: Radio Edit and The Micronauts Remix. Has '5439-16643-2' catalogue number.

6 MIX MAXI CD SINGLE
This is exactly the same as the UK maxi version but has NO 'W614CDX' catalogue number on the spine however both the UK and German maxi CDs have "Made In Germany" written into their design! Catalogue number: 9362-42638-2. The maxi CD comes in thick jewel case and picture insert and the following mixes:

There are two German vinyl pressings just like here in the UK, a single vinyl (9362 42635-0) and a double vinyl (9362 42638-0), probably identical to UK pressings except for German manufacture and no 'W***' catalogue number prefix. I will get back with more information shortly. If you own both the German pressings please email me with images of these and let me know the differences in these are the similar UK ones.

There is the regular CD1 and CD2 German pressings. These are with the same track listing as the UK ones:

JEWEL CASE CD SINGLE THREE
Just like American Life, Germany has also been blessed with a third thin jewel cased CD single. This has two mixes: Radio Edit and The Micronauts Remix, with '5439 16578 2' catalogue number. It is basically a jewel cased version of the two track card sleeve CD single! A similar 'third' thin jewel case pressing surfaced for Ray Of Light as far as I recall. All will be listed within the book, out end of the year!

Here in UK we finally got Hollywood! There are two CD singles so far, a CD1 (W614CD1) and CD2 (W614CD2). CD1 has regular insert and three mixes:

This comes with yellow promo sticker. The disc is blue with yellow star and is identical to CD2 except for a small catalogue number around the edge (and one on the inner part of the disc).

CD2 has same insert sleeve but with additional blue, yellow, red and black border. This one has yellow promo sticker with misspelled "'JAQUES' LU CONT". Spelt like this on the back spine but spelt correctly on the inside of the insert? How the hell Warners can let this happen is beyond me?? Tracks are:

Both discs are made by Disctronics and there is NO manyfacturer origins anywhere! The gatefold inserts open out to reveal the lyrics to Hollywood!

This is exactly the same as the German maxi version but has additional 'W614CDX' catalogue number on the spine. However both the UK and German maxi CDs have "Made In Germany" written into their design! (9362-42638-2). The maxi CD comes in thick jewel case and picture insert and the following mixes:

The UK once again got two 12" vinyl pressings. The first was a single 12" with picture sleeve similar to the maxi CD. This has three tracks: Hollywood - Radio Edit, Hollywood - Jacques Lu Cont´s Thin White Duck Mix and Hollywood - Oakenfold Full Remix. Has 'W614T' catalogue number and pale blue labels with a bright yellow star in the middle; these also carry the 'W614T' catalogue number!

The double 12" vinyl (W614T2) has similar front sleeve design, however its back sleeve is totally different!

This is the first German promo 12" with 'PRO4162' catalogue number. It is identical to the recent USA promo 12" pressings except it has the shorter 'PRO' catalogue number rather than the longer 'PRO-A' or 'PRO-' American prefix.

The first German promo 12" has just four tracks compared to the American one with six! Likewise this promo containes none of the scarce 'Dub' remixes that appeared on the USA promo. The tracks are as follows:
01) Hollywood - Oakenfold 12" Full Remix
02) Hollywood - Jacques Lu Cont's Thin White Duck Mix
03) Hollywood - Album Version
04) Hollywood - Deepsky's Home Sweet Home Vocal Remix.
The single vinyl comes in black die-cut sleeve with promo sticker which is also very similar to the USA promo.

The six mix second German promo 12" containes identical remixes to the 'Remixes Part 2' USA promo and includes the initially scarce 'Dub' remixes that appeared first on the USA promo. The tracks are as follows:

This is the promo CD that is being given out with every new pair of Madonna Missy GAP jeans here in UK (poss from Sept), USA (NOW), Japan and a few other countries including many European ones. There are 300,000 USA copies pressed and a further 300,000 for Europe and rest of the world! I will add bigger better images shortly!

The UK had a new cover magazine on Sunday 27th, Style Magazine which is a newspaper supplement free with Sunday Times. Has cool Madonna and Missy cover shot! If you have a GAP related cover please email me a scan and info and I will add them here for all to see.

Harpers Bazaar has also got a Madonna/Missy cover this month. Cheers Lewis from here in UK for these great images of Harpers Bazaar cover magazine. The september 2003 issue has five pages packed with new shots of Madonna and a number of smaller pictures of Madonna from the early days onwards.

Recently there has been two Madonna Amazing promo CDs which have appeared on auction sites. One is a Mexican pressing with similar design to the back of Music, although it appears to have just a back insert and not a front picture insert? It looks nice but not sure it's official?

The second pressing is an apparent columbian promo CD? This looks amazing also! Has jewel case with full colour insert with similar design to the Music album. Has a cloudy background so probably fake. The disc is equally beautiful with MADONNA and AMAZING in the same font as Music and has a white disc.

I very much doubt that these are official pressings and if you have images please email me. If you own one get back with big images and let me know if you think they are fake or not?

Hurray, at last another 'SAM' UK promo 12". This one is a four mix beauty featuring the following mixes:

Comes in plain die-cut sleeve with custom promo sticker and many also have a UK press release. The press release is usually used by the DJ who is asked to fill in a questionare and send it back to Warners. In exchange the DJ will receive the next promo, if not completed the DJ may not receive any more from the record company!

UK Vanderquest/Warner promo 1 track video
It's been a while since the UK had a Vanderquest promo video, I seem to recall it was in 1998 for Frozen? Anyway, Vanderquest have been making Madonna promo videos for nearly 20 years now and most are similar in design to Hollywood, i.e. no picture cover and just a simple custom promo label. Hollywood has a running time of 3:58.

First of all, Thanks fo Arjan Peterse from Netherlands for info on a newer CDR five track promo CD with 'PRO-CDR-101146' catalogue number, note it is a 'PRO-CDR' prefix, new to Hollywood CDR promos! Thanks also to Kent from www.MaddyMusic.com for the great images used below!

The five mix USA CD promo with 'PRO-CD-101146' catalogue number has the following five mixes:

This pressings has the now traditional silver disc and very 'rough' back & white insert sleeve. A nice pressing though! (The initial pressing, a 1 mix promo CD is shown 1 page back within Hot News.

ANOTHER USA 1 MIX CDR
There is a simple CDR issued in USA for Holywood. This one has 'studio' insert in thick jewel casing and no back insert at all. The insert has basic details and the disc is equally basic. This, like others, includes just the 3:42 Edit Version. It does appear to be a lot harder to acquire than the other two 1 mix promos/CDRs that have so far surfaced!

THREE TRACK CDR WITH 'PRO-CD-101146' CATALOGUE NUMBER - IS IT A FAKE??
I received an intersting email regarding the three track CDR featured below. The scan for this pressing clearly shows a similar 'PRO-CD-101146' catalogue number to this five mix pressing ('CD' not 'CDR' prefix!). This initally sparked confusion because a totally different three track CDR could not have the same catalogue number a five mix one!

I originally assumed that the three tracker listed below was in fact a bootleg?? I could not say for sure without viewing the disc itself. The images however did show a very official looking pressing with the 'dodgy' catalogue number?

Well Thanks to Miguel Vicens from www.madonnasurvival.com, who has mentioned that He too has the three track CDR and His is official, however, His pressing has NO catalogue number printed on the cover!!

I originally assumed that the original three tracker scan featured below had been docted with a catalogue number added to it. However, I have spoken to the owner of the CDR below, who in turn has contacted the guy He bought it from. And the facts are that the scan is 'as is' and the CDR is official? This means that there may now be two different three trackers, one with a catalogue number. I have yet to see the disc of the catalogue number three tracker and once I do I will varify its authenticity here!

Thanks also now to Yann Siquot, long time collector from France who sent me an intersting email regarding the above mentioned CDR with additional catalogue number. I have included it below:

Hi Kev !
I own a copy of the 3-track CD-R of " Hollywood " (featuring 3 edits) and mine has no catalog number printed on the insert. I bought it through Esprit (or Southland, don't remember exactly) before the " referenced " insert CD started to circulate.

But it doesn't mean the CD-R with the " PRO-CDR-101146 " is necessarily a fake : I saw this CD-R (with the cat. number printed on the insert) in a Paris record shop and it looks really official.

I think (but it's only my opinion) that the record company (Warner or Maverick) makes several batches of these CD-Rs (based on their current needs) : I happen to have a copy of the 13-track " Buenos Aires " promo CD-R ; it's exactly the same as the one you can see on sites such as the Madonna Catalog, only my CD-R carries a different manufacturing date (the insert and the CD look genuine). That would explain why there are differencies between some CD-Rs.

But there might also be a whole bunch of fakes all around the place !

Italy has a CD1 and CD2 and also a maxi CD to their name so far! These are sealed and sold this way and all carry special italian holograms to show that they are officially imported for sale in Italy! This is how all Italian pressings are now sold.

The Italian CD1 is an imported UK CD1 from what I can see! It has NO reference to German Manufacture anywhere on it's sleeve but does however include a German disc? It has a totally unique to Italy promo sticker on it! This sticker is NOT available on the UK pressings or German ones so is quite special! CD1 has the following three mixes:

Thanks to Hans Jurg Moeklin from Switzerland (think thats right!) for letting me know about this rather rare little Italian juke box promo issued in 2001. Many years ago, from the early days up to the mid 90's Italy produced a range or juke box promo 7" singles with a Madonna track.

Well this is the first 'recent' Madonna track that I know of to appear on Italian juke box format and it certainly appears to be scarce? I do love these little beauties!! This includes Madonna Amazing on the B side with REM on the A side with Imitation Of Life! Comes with traditional card information slip that is supposed to bve slipped into the juke box to show listeners what the tracks are!

Tony Barton from here in UK mentioned to me that He has recently seen Ray Of Light and Beautiful Stranger. I have colated a huge listing of all Italian juke box singles which will be included in the Madonna Ultiography Collectors Reference Book 2004.

Here is a cool shot of the Italian jukebox single of Cherish with traditional 'recycled' picture sleeve!! The image clearly shows the label design used for most jukebox singles. All pressings carry a redish logo stamped straight onto the label. The sleeve is a good example of their recycling! Thanks Pedro from Spain (I think?) for images of this cool item (Let me know if not Pedro)

Hans Moeklin has kindly sent me some scans of a few Italian juke box promos that He owns. These are different in design to the way they were pressed originally in the 80's and early 90's? Originally they would generally not include a picture sleeve, instead, they recycled old picture sleeves, turned in side out so the picture is on the inside and the outside is plain! They would then include a small card slip with track details etc. The card slip is designed to go into the juke box machine!

Thought I would share a few images of my Madonna Mini Cooper. I also got the rare black American Life promo T-shirt which I love also!

Funnily enough, the Mini Coopers which although limited to just 506 come in a range of numbers well into the 600's! This is because certain numbers were either not manufactured or were kept back from be given away? This could mean that there are more than 506 in existance and someone somewhere may have access to the missing numbers?

This is the official red and black Tshirts. All other colours of so called UK promo T's being sold currently on the net may be bootlegs so be careful! Both T shirts pictured are 100% genuine and officially manufactured for Warners UK.

The red one is amazing quality, and the black is a little thinner but still fairly good quality.

The first is a card sleeve CDR promo. This is the first time I have seen a USA promo like this? Usually the UK/Euro ones appear like this!

It is titled "Hollywood ID" and appears to include just three seconds! "TRK 00:03" which is different The CDR includes a message from Madonna saying "Hi this is Madonna and you are listening to my new single Hollywood..."

The first, I think, USA promo 12" has appeared. This is called Remixes Part 1 and has 'PRO-A-101128' catalogue number. Has large promo sticker on the plain die-sut sleeve. The sticker includes reference to the remixers and includes: "HOLLYWOOD CD AND VINYL MAXI IN STORES 07/08/03". The 2 labels are regular promo issues and include the following remixes:

There is a second UK CDR promo. This one is a four mix pressing. Has traditional perforated insert sleeve in poly wallet, with basic titled sleeve design. The disc is plain with printed titles and logs only and includes the following four mixes:

There is a rather rare Mexican promo CD 'PCD1608'. Appears to be issued in card slip case and probably initially comes sealed.

Well, first of all, I was sitting down on the laptop writing the next Madonna Ultiography when I received a text message from Tony Barton, Tone for short. It said: "It exists, I am holding the UK Material Girl 7" with poster in my hand right now".

To those who have read past Madonna Ultiography's, there were a number of UK items that I raved on about, one is the UK 7" Lucky Star with Sunglasses p/s, the other is the existance on a poster edition 7" Material Girl. There has always been rumours that this existed but no one has ever come forward with evidence that one had been pressed, until now that is!

So here it is.. The world exclusive of possibly the UK's rarest vinyl. Forget about the Erotica PD, this is truly rare!! Get this and the UK Luck Star 7" with Sunglasses p/s and you have done well!

I was just reading the article about MADONNA'S 7" Material girl with Poster. I was sure that such a record has been offered in a not so well known German magazine for second hand records called "Musik Flohmarkt" years ago. Now I was wondering if I am still in possession of that issue. I found it! It was in October 2000 and I remember that I made an offer of 120 German Marks at that time. There was no note for a minimum price, just sold for highest offer. I never heard who won it. By the way: It was a German from BRAUNSCHWEIG offering this item.
