As well as the totally amazing Limited Edition Foil Guft Pack which accommpanies the initial 'first edition' CD album in card slip case, there may also be a similar promo CD single?

The promotional CD single actually comes inside a foil pack similar to the LTD pack. Be careful though as the limited edition foil pack does carry "For Promotional Only Not For Sale" wording on the front! I will add more information here shortly!

There may afterall be some kind of German/Euro/UK limited edition for American Life. It has 9362 48440 -2 catalogue number. Which is different to the USA LTD with 9362 48439-2 catalogue number! As soon as I can get a 100% confirmation I will post info here.

I will be getting both the USA and Euro LTD's, so if you want one email me!

Here is yet more information on the forthcoming CD album limited edition, limited to 140,000, and manufactured in the USA only! This should start to surface from around 22nd April this month?

The upcoming Madonna full length CD will also be released as a U.S.-only "Special Edition" packaging (in addition to the regular CD release).

Here are the official details for the Madonna limited edition:
2-piece telescoping box with styrene tray to hold disc.

Box-top is covered in White "leatherette" fabric and silk-screened in black and red ink (inside of box top is lined in red paper).

Box-bottom is covered in Black "linen" fabric (inside of box is black board)

Black thermoformed plastic tray sets in box bottom to hold CD disc (note, this may change to a digi tray on a platform)

23" x 35" poster insert, printed 4/c on Newsprint stock, folded to fit into box:
  One 3/c CD disc
  One 2/c "Info" card, carrying lineup, legal lines, and UPC code , shrinkwrapped to the back.

Hello Kev.
Just a bit of probably meaningless trivia but I have put my Madonna single into my computer to play and although it has three versions of American Life it is listing track two as Hollywood (4.39) and track three as I'm So Stupid (10.40)

Check your copies in a computer player and let me know if yours is the same?

Just a quick message: There is not going to be any gold disc CD album LTD from Australia! Warners Australia have confirmed this now.

Likewise there does not look like being a UK/Euro LTD for American Life, so we will all be after the 130,000 USA made copies worldwide....

Hi,
I asked a friend of mine who is working at CADENA 100 radio airplay station about the Spanish promo CD. He told me after saw a picture definitely the supposed Spanish CD is a fake, they just have got the German promo CD from WARNER and haven't produced any domestic promo CD.

Another email regarding the 'fake' Spanish picture disc promo! Thanks to Marco B for a copy of this email which appears to have come from Cadena Radio in Spain! Even the 'big boys' stores were fooled into selling a bootleg it appears!!!

Dear Marc:
I think promo spanish CDR with our logo on the CD aren´t official, because I ignore this theme. I think this cd it has nothing to do with CADENA 100. I hope aid you my noticies. I hope my noticies can help you. Thank you Marc.

The UK CD singles come in two different sleeve and disc artwork colours, red or blue, with matching coloured promo stickers stuck on the front cases.

CD1 is the red edition with matching disc and promo sticker stating: "INCLUDES REMIXES BY MISSY ELLIOTT & PETER RAUHOFER 9362 42615-2 W603CD1". The insert sleeve is gatefold and opens out to show the words "PEACE" along with the full track listing etc. The inner sleeve shows the dog-tag artwork used for the six mix UK CDR promo, along with track listing:

2 American Life Missy Elliott American Dream Remix 4:49
3 American Life - Peter Rauhofer´s American Anthem Part 1.
The disc is red with 7 black stars. The disc has no track listing and the true UK copies give reference to the 'W603CD1' catalogue prefix around the rim of the outer disc!

The blue CD2 includes reference to "OAKENFOLD & FELIX DA HOUSECAT". The disc has identical design to the red one with 'W603CD2' UK prefix. Includes the following mixes:
1 American Life - Radio Edit 4:27
2 American Life - Oakenfold Downtempo Remix 5:32
3 American Life - Felix Da Housecat Davin Dazzle Club Mix 6:10

Something worth mentioning, mainly for the real hardcore Madonna collectors: Both CD1 and CD2 that I purchased the day the CD was released were 'TOP-UPS' and were manufactured by DISCTRONICS. Plus these have the 'W 603 CD 1 (or 2)' etched into the very inner of the disc! later pressings will loose this inner etching and have no reference to Disctronics.

This is the USA American Life CD single with two tracks: American Life (Radio Edit with Rap) and Die Another Day (Caldorone & Quayle Afterlife Mix) plus an enhanced section with Madonna extras. This is the first USA CD single for a while, with Canada producing the only North American CD singles recently!

This particular pressing comes in thick jewel casing, something else that makes this pressing different to the usual American CD singles. Most CD singles came in either a card 'slip' sleeve or thick card draw-pak sleeve. Only the first few, including Vogue, for example were manufactured using thick jewel cases!

Here are a few more American Life goodies that have surfaced recently. I think all are American manufactured and are all official Warners/Maverick.

There is a 17" by 24" single-sided promotional poster pictured above. There are also some great double-sided 12" by 12" flats along with a cool double-sided promotional only postcard. The other poster featured seperately to the left is also an official Warners/Maverick promo release, measuring 24" long by 12" tall, with B&W with red accents. Each photo of Madonna spells out her name & the title of the album. Madonna is dressed in military gear.
