It was issued for the UK only and limited to about 300 copies! This is a factory sealed reference CDR with the BLACK "WEA" logo on the disc and on the Fold Out Sleeve. It sounds similar to a CDR I have which was issued for American Pie!

Thanks to Casey for letting me know about a third Die Another Day advance promo 12". This has traditional 'advance' white label with basic information and Warners logo and 'PRO-A-101017-A' catalogue number. It comes in plain white die-cut sleeve with the following remixes:

I am sitting here listening to the 6 mix CDR promo in card p/s, bloody amazing remixes! Especially like the third track, Felix Da Housecat's Devin Dazzle Club Mix 6:10. Missy Elliott American Dream Remix. track one, is also a great remix, light hearted, although if you have children, don't let them listed to this remix, plenty of FUCK's!

Track four, Peter Rauhofer's American Anthem Part 1, has just kicked in, bloody fine!! There is a definate 80's electro sound coming out on many of these remixes. Kind of Ultravox meats Visage whist bumping into Madonna: kind of thing?

Ohh, Peter Rauhofer's American Dream Part 2 is now playing, another spot-on remix, different to part one, not quite so 80's!

Unfortunately here in UK the main radio stations, here in the South anyway, are NOT playing American Life at all? You hear it like three times in a whole day? pisses me off, come on Warners, you guys are loosing it bigtime, especially as it's not the first time a quality single has been promoted badly.I wonder when Madonna will ditch Warners/Maverick?

Here it is, the UK promotional only video of American Life. It comes in full picture box with front and back artwork. The video itself comes with printed label showing 'Ascent Media'; the company who manufactured these. Also gives reference to Warner Music UK and a running time of 4:39.

Everyone is talking about this great little item. It is a Spanish promo CD issued for 'Radio 100 Cadena' limited to just 100 copies, each individually numbered! The CD comes in clear plastic cover and includes a Madonna/Warners press release. Includes two mixes: American life and American life (Radio Edit).

This is technically official but I don't think it was pressed by Warners? Maybe pressed with permission of Warners? I have not actually seen one close up yet so can't say for sure if it's official?!

I have a copy of the spanish promo (only the cd, not the press release). I don't know if it's an official item or not, because I'm not a specialist. My first impression is it's not official and this because two reasons:
    1.- it has no serial number
    2.- in my opinion, the graphics of the cd are not pressed on it. Seems to be only a sticker.
I hope this can help something.

This is a very special French promo CD of American Life. It appears to be official and looks beautiful, as did the last French promo: Music!

The CD is housed in gate-fold packaging with beautiful artwork. It measures 7" square and comes with a Warners/Maverick press release. Includes the regular German promo disc (PRO3908) that otherwise came in card sleeve with two mixes: American life Edit and American life (Radio Edit Without Rap).

This looks official, although I have not actually seen one close up!

Just received a great email from friend and huge Madonna collector, Yann Siguot, Who is from France itself, who describes the French promo CD in more detail, Enjoy:

I happen to have a copy of the 'American Life' French promo pack you show on your 'Hot News' page. It is TOTALLY OFFICIAL ! and beautiful ! and extremely scarce ! ! !

The CD itself is the German/UK 'American Life' 2-track promo CD (PRO3908) in cardboard picture sleeve, but it was sent by Warner France to very limited media with the cardboard display ; the whole thing came in a big black enveloppe closed by a custom pink round sticker. The others only got the CD in cardboard sleeve.

Like the 'Music' French promo pack, this item will soon probably be impossible to find. So get 'em while you can !

Madonna American Life Album Review
Today I went (Kent) to a Madonna Listening Session of the new album "American Life", where I got to hear the new album only ONCE. As I´m not a re-porter and not qualified to make a real review like the reporters from newspapers and magazines, I´ll still try to make my review of this album as a fan. Again I´ve heard the album one time and it´s hard to remember every track exactly, but I´ll do my best! One thing I can say for sure is, we´re in for a treat here. I think this is one of her best albums in years. It´s not as electronic as I had feared, not too much effects on Madonnas voice and Madonna sings really great! One thing that goes through the entire album is guitar playing. The songs are more rock than we have ever heard before and they play a lot of acoustic guitar on some tracks.

AMERICAN LIFE:
Do I really need to tell anything about this track? Haven´t we all heard it by now?!? One thing I need to say is - sounds great with the F**K word included!!!

HOLLYWOOD:
This song reminds me a lot of "One More Chance", but in a more up-tempo version. It has more guitar and some electronic effects, but not too much if you ask me! There´s no effects on her voice on this track and that´s really nice to hear for a change! And Madonna also raps on this track, not as much as in "American Life", but there´s rap there! This track could easily become a dance floor hit and we already know it´s a forth-coming single!

I´M SO STUPID:
If you like rock music then you´re gonna love this track. There´s a lot of guitar on it and there´s little effects on her voice. It reminds me a little of Alanis Morissette from the "Jagged Little Pill" album. An okay song, but I can´t see it released as a single.

LOVE PROFUSION:
"I´m So Stupid" takes you directly into this new track. Again you hear guitar playing, but it´s not electric and very few effects on the voice. This is one of the strongest songs on this album and I can see this as a huge hit worldwide.

NOBODY KNOWS ME:
This track contains a lot of electronic elements, there´s effects on her voice - like "Die Another Day" and it´s a real pop tune. In my opinion Madonna and Mirwais must have found inspiration in Björks music, it does sound a little like Björks earlier music. She sings the same over and over and I do think it´s one of the weakest tracks on the album.

NOTHING FAILS:
The beginning of this track could easily be mistaken for "Don´t Tell Me" in another version. It´s very quiet to begin with and it makes me think of "Gone". It´s acoustic guitar once again and there´s no effects on Madon-nas voice. All of the sudden a choir takes over and it sounds so GREAT. I got (and still get) goose skin all over, when I heard this the first time. The choir makes me think about "Like A Prayer", but only 10 times better, if that´s possible. A strong song and could be a single!

INTERVENTION:
When I first heard this one I immediately thought about Red Hot Chili Peppers "Under The Bridge" or just Red Hot Chili Peppers in general. A brilliant acoustic guitar tune with a little electronic feeling to it. Also a sin-gle in my opinion.

X-STATIC PROCESS:
I must admit that I had high expectations about this one. I had hoped for another "Skin" and "Impressive Instant" track, but I was really disap-pointed by this track. This one is also with acoustic guitar (very 70´s like), no electronic elements and no effects on Madonnas voice. The song is okay, but the title is far from this song and they should change it.

MOTHER AND FATHER:
Once again I thought this song would be like "Oh Father" and "Mer Girl", but it´s very Kylie Minogues "Fever" like. It sounds very much like "In Your Eyes" and "Fever" by Kylie. It´s electronic, there´s effects on her voice some places and she even raps once again. The lyrics for this song are really good, but the music sound doesn´t fit these lyrics. I had hoped for a darker song here as the other songs about her parents! I´ll give it an extra star for the lyrics.

DIE ANOTHER DAY:
Do I need any review for this song? We all know it and we all have our opinions about it. Speaking for myself I like it and it fits perfectly on this album - don´t know if it was any good for the Bond movie?!?

EASY RIDE:
Sounds very much like "Frozen" in the beginning, then it goes over into "Gone" and then into "Die Another Day". It´s acoustic guitar and there´s strings in it. It has its surprises, which are quite powerful while listening to the song. Madonna has taken a lot of chances with this track as it has it all. An extra star is giving for Madonna taking a chance here.

Overall raking of this album will be 5 stars out of 6 possible. I´ll say there´s a little "Ray Of Light" and "Music" over it mixed up with Madonnas voice lessons from "Evita". For the first time in years we hear Madonna really sing and scream on this album. She does it all - pop, rock, mid-techno and rapping. I´m sure this will be a huge hit and I bet the younger people, who aren´t Madonna fans, will get this album too. It comes out to everybody and I´m sure the fans won´t get disappointed with it? Only time will tell.

Again please remember that I have written this review after listening to this album only once. I might have made a few mistakes in some of the songs, but I have tried my best. I might also change my opinion after lis-tening to the album again?!?

Spotted this on the internet at an auction site. It's advertised as an official USA CRP promo. Looks amazing but does anyone else know something about this CD? It's a CDR disc with rather fine graphics which makes it look official? BUT IS IT OFFICIAL??

Just received an email from the owner of this CD with some more information about the sleeve:

Hello Kev.
I don't have a scanner.
The cover art consists of a black & white image of Madonna with some black & white stars & Stripes, with 2 red bars accross Madonna's face, & the words "Madonna American Life" across the bottom also in red. The cd is packaged in a plastic jewel case.
I don't think this item will show up in any stores. I don't know what the "Madonna Extras" are. It just says "Enhanced with Madonna Extras", with the usual disclaimer that certain computers may not be able to access the enhanced portion of the disc.

Here in the UK these little blighters have been surfacing. It's a red subway poster which have been used to promote the single's release on 14/04/03. Love the red!! These measure 30" by 20 ".

I just received information from a UK dealer about a Australian limited edition American Life album. The Australain version includes a limited gold disc with a poster included. Tracklisting:

Quite a lot of confusion surrounds the American Life LTD album CD. It apparently has some kind of enhanced feature, which would probably have been the American Life video. However, since it's withdraw, I doubt this will be included now?

I have the following description of the album LTD from USA, which I received from my UK suppliers:

Special Edition Package - Available for a limited time only. 2-piece telescoping box covered in White 'Leatherette' Fabric and Foil-Stamped in Black and Red.

So much news. Right, there is set to be two versions of American Life CD album (and probably cassette also). The standard version is an Explicit Version with a second one called the Clean Version.

CD SINGLES AND MAXI PRESSINGS:
A standard two mix CD single is apparently set for 8th April. This will possibly include American life Edit and Die Another Day!
Then on 29th April there is set to be a 'Remixes' CD and 12" maxi pressing.

I will however be definately getting copies. No price yet, but l contact everone on the mailing list as soon as I get a price and availability. The USA pressing is set for release on 18th April.
