Review on SWEPT AWAY by Jeannie Buxo www.madonnasworld.com Wow, last night I was very very fortunate to see an advanced screening of Madonna's hot new film SWEPT AWAY. Since this event was part of a film festival and a charity event, there were a lot of giveaways before the film actually got started. The anticipation was killing me, I wanted to see it already but I had to wait a few more minutes. When the film starts, we see close ups of Madonna; her hands her face, her glasses her drink in one hand, her cigarette in the other. These images gave me flash backs of various Madonna video moments. As a matter of fact, a lot of things that happened in the film made me think, where did I see that before? Very early on I noticed that the man who plays Madonna's friend in the film was the same guy who played her Manager in the BMW commercial. I guess Guy likes to use the same people. Madonna was looking amazing. She was looking amazing through out the film as seen in all the pictures from the movie. You guys know basically the story, so I am not gonna go into too much detail about how they get from the boat to the island. Madonna is a rich bitch socialite in the film, kind of like most of the people that got in to see this movie last night. ..Anyway, we see Madonnas character always complaining about everything from the food to the shirts that the workers wear on the boat to the actual boat itself. The film has 2 main characters. Madonna is in practically every scene with the sailor played by Adriano Giannini (called Pepe). The crew hates Madonnas character and even her friends on the boat talk about her behind her back. Every night Madonna is seen playing cards and smoking. One night she comes up from the lower level of the boat for some air. She sees pepe and turns away. She was mad at him cause the other night she was a little bit drunk and ran into him on the boat and asked him if he wanted to dance with her. He refused saying, "I don't dance with people I don't like". Every scene was exciting and Madonna's acting was on par. The greatest moment in the film for me was the scene where Pepe asks Madonna to sing! She starts singing really badly and then you could make out the lyrics that she was singing which was `Come on a My House' and the fantasy sequence begins! (You've seen the photos, where Madonna wears that beautiful yellow Versace gown and that made the film for me. I wanted to stand and applaud right afterwards) They ultimately fall in love on the island and start playing some silly games with each other. In one scene they discover a whiskey bottle in the abandoned shack on the island. They start playing charades! This is another hilarious scene. Madonna truly shined here and really showed off her comedic talents. The soundtrack during the film was awesome as well. Guy Ritchie did a great job. I am not going to spoil the way it ends for you, you're just gonna have to see it for yourself. Over all is was a really well done film and I am so happy that Madonna finally took on a project that was worthy of her time. Much better than the original. My only complaint, I think it was too short! Everyone has to see this and recommend it to anyone and everyone they know. ps. go see new photos of the film at http://news.madonnasworld.com
