new album info

All (rumoured) info on the new album (not officially confirmed though):

- The album will definately be released in March. We can safely go by that rumored date of the 18th of March.

- First single details are still sketchy since they are still planning the marketing and promotion and Madonna hasn't decided yet what the first single will be, she can't decide yet if the first single will be something mid-tempo or slow (so no dance track!).

- The song by Air might not end up on the actual album, it could become a bonus track on the Japanese version of the album and later a b-side on one of the singles. This tells us two main things. She has done a song with Air, and we might get more new songs then just 10 new ones.

- For the time being she has decided that 'Die Another Day' will not be featured on the US release of the new album!!! Which means more new tracks for the fans!!!

- The photoshoot that will be featured in W magazine will have a ballet theme to it and is going to be amazing!!!

- The theme of the new album is a well guarded secret but supposedly it could be a fucked up dance inspired reinvention of the ballet idea!

- The rumoured tracktitles we heard like 'Hollywood' are still tentative titles, but could very well end up being the final ones used!

- The photographer for the album cover will be a photographer who also did some amazing work for Lady Di. Testino? Maybe!!! Probably!!!

- Count on an official press-release in the next few weeks, so the second week of January would be a sure bet I guess!

It's the beginning of a lot of speculation about Madonna's plans for 2003! Expect many of these stories to appear in the press over the next week. These are are from a very reliable source but are not 100% confirmed:

- There is a track on the new album which is over 12 minutes long.

- Some sources are saying that the album is pure electronic disco - others are saying that it features a lot of guitar.

- Madonna will definitely be touring this album and has been saying that she feels that the DW Tour was too self-indulgent. She wants to redress the balance.

- Following the tour will be a box set featuring all Madonna's singles and some rarities.

Great news about the new Madonna album!! I'm supprised about a tour though? But an album is welcome!

It was 20 Years last year and apparently Warners may use 1983 as the starting point with this year being the twenty year celebration.

If this is 20 years then I would certainly expect and album and some great collectables coming from it!!

As usually happens, there are a lot of 'supposed' track listings doing the rounds on the internet - all from people who claim to have contacts at Warner, Maverick or wherever.

Well, sorry if this disappoints you at this time, but no tracklisting has yet been drawn up and the final album title still hasn't been decided upon. Even more importantly, no details of the single title reside with any record companies at present with only a provisional release for the (as yet untitled) album scheduled for April.

MTV REVEALS DETAILS ABOUT MADONNA'S "SPIRITUAL" NEW ALBUM!!

The following article is from MTV.COM! The article offers some hot tid bits about the new CD and denies that Jonas Akerlund will direct the first video.

Before she released Ray of Light in 1998, Madonna revealed she had developped an interest in Kabbalah, a mystical sect of Judaism. The news was greeted with scepticism by some who had watched the business-savvy pop star embrace and discard materialism, eroticism and high culture. But Madonna's spiritual awakening seems to be for real. She's taken to wearing a Jewish star and has encouraged her husband, Guy Ritchie, to explore the religion's teachings. And she recently told talk show host Larry King that she wanted to give her next album, due in April, a Hebrew name. At the time she was favoring 'Ein Sof', which means 'endlessness'. Madonna's publicist said the album title is still undetermined and that there's a good chance it won't be in Hebrew.

The record is being co-produced by Madonna with Mirwais Ahmadzai, who manned the boards for 2000's 'Music' and 'Die Another Day', the lead track for the recent James Bond film of the same name. The first single will be 'American Life', and the album may also contain a song co-written by Guy Sigsworth, Gem Jones and Jacques Lu Cont (a.k.a. Les Rythmes Digitales), who was Madonna's musical director and keyboardist during the Drowned World Tour.

Songs on the record will feature electronic instrumentation, but the vibe is 'very, very different' from anything Madonna has released, the publicist said.

Photographer Craig McDean has conducted a shoot for the album art, but Madonna hasn't decided whether to use the images. The publicist could not reveal additional track titles, but said a video for 'American Life' will not be shot by Jonas Akerlund, contrary to a report on Madonna's website.

From 'The Mirror' 3 a.m.:

SURPRISE, surprise Madonna is set to cause more controversy when she releases her new album in the Spring. Our spies tell us she takes a pop at her homeland in her next single, American Life.

"Madonna is getting her own back," we're told.

Another song - on the as yet untitled album - is called Hollywood.

Kevin Reagan (who designed the artwork for 'Ray of Light', 'Music' and 'GHV2') has been commissioned to work on the new album. Kevin was also present at this week's photoshoot.

Madonna's new album is set to include a composition written with Monty Pitman - guitarist on the Drowned World tour (and Madonna's guitar tutor).

An unused track from the album sessions is believed to being given to another US female artist who is hoping to make it big(ger) in 2003. Who could it be ...? Expect to know soon.

The album is set for release on 15 April with the single due in Europe at the end of February.

More info on the new album:

Mirwais flew out to LA last week and is now back in the studio with Madonna. They are finishing the album over the next few weeks.

Confirmed songtitles (which may or may not make the final cut) are:

- 'American Life'

- 'Die Another Day'

- 'Hollywood'

- 'Easy Ride'

- 'Nothing Fails'

These songtitles may change.

The album is still untitled, but the photoshoot took place last week and cost a staggering $415,000. Rumours that she's had a new cut are false.

Rumours that Madonna has offered a track to Jessica Simpson (and indeed was hinted at in previous info) are false.

As the entire project is not as finished as we originally thought, don't expect any official news to be released for some weeks!

Warner has strongly denied rumours that Madonna has been ordered to re-record some of her new album.

According to the reports, Warner said that the album was too electro-pop and not commercially friendly, and that French producer Mirwais had been flown to LA to rescue the project.

But Warner says both Madonna and Mirwais flew to LA after Christmas to work on some tracks together - they've heard several and are 'knocked out'.

Apparently she's done another style-reinvention and they're very excited.

It does have a distinct electro-pop style, with Madonna playing a lot of guitar.

As of yet the album hasn't got a name, but it's due out in April, and the first single will be called 'American Life'.
