PAPA DON'T PREACH
|
Apart form the regular 7" (W8636) pressing there have been four different coloured Top-Ups: silver, green, red and gold. A mis-pressed single also surfaced with the same labels pressed on both sides of the disc.
A regular 12" (W8636T) in traditional 'face' sleeve and two limited editions, a scarce Picture Disc (W8636P) and equally collectable 12" with Free Poster (W9636TW), both will easily fetch £20 in mint condition and with promotional stickers.

OPEN YOUR HEART
|
Just four pressings surfaced, two 7", a regular pressing (W8480) and a silver label Top-Up. A regular 12" (W8480T) was accompanied by limited edition Picture Disc which is now very sought after (as are all commercial and ltd 12" pressings in mint from before 1986).

WHO'S THAT GIRL
|
The first release from the soundtrack album 'Who's that Girl', this came in two 7" singles, a regular (W8341) and a silver label Top-Up. A regular 12" (8341T) was accompanied by two limited editions, both now rare here in the UK. The first being a 'W8341TX' catalogue number pressing with an extra 'Dub' mix of 'Who's That Girl', which sells for around £15. The other limited edition is a Picture Disc which was very limited indeed and easily fetches upwards of £40.

CAUSING A COMMOTION
|
'Causing A Commotion' was issued in the two regular 7" pressings (W8224) including a silver Top-Up. Accompanying these was a totally unique limited edition (W8224) concisting of a factory sealed 7" single with free button badge slipped in between the cover and outer wrapping, this now sells for up to £30 in mint condition or sealed.
Another equally rare although very much forgotten pressing was Britain's first cassette Single (W8224), which when released seemed to go un noticed, so is now virtually inpossible to find in any condition. Finally, a picture sleeve 12" (W8224T) and rather tasty Picture Disc (W8224T) also surfaced both are now scarce.

'The Look Of Love' finished off pre 1989 pressings and offered five to collect. The regular 7" (W8115) was accomanied by two coloured Top-Ups in silver and blue. A regular 12" (W8115T) was accompanied by a cool limited edition Picture Disc pressing.

LIKE A PRAYER
|
'Like A Prayer' was released in March 1989 and began what in my mind was one of Madonna's most successful music era's, matching Erotica and 'Ray Of Light'.
'Like A Prayer' came in four main formats. Two 7" singles (W7539), one being the regular the other being a 'Gema Biem' Top-Up pressing.
Four different 12" singles surfaced: the first carrying a white picture sleeve (W7539T), which was also sold in 'Gema Biem' Top-Up format with card-boxed sleeve, followed by another pressing in sand-coloured sleeve and special 'TX' prefix catalogue number which is generally reserved for limited edition pressings. The final 12" was the fabulous limited edition Picture Disc, which initially came with supperb picture insert, although most came without it, so expect to pay £20 for an insert pressing.
The UK's second cassette single which is now fairly scarce was accompanied by the UK's first 3" compact disc single, which originally came housed in a sealed plastic outer casing surounding it's rather cute 3" picture sleeve. Sealed copies of the 3" CD are very hard to find so remember to check when buying whether they have been opened.

EXPRESS YOURSELF
|
Two regular 7" (W2948) pressings surfaced, the second being a 'Gema Biem' Top-Up pressing. Followed by two cool 7" limited editions, one with Poster Sleeve (W2948X) which never seems to surface for sale, the other coming with mega rare and totally unique Zipper Sleeve (W2948W), which is a real sexy little item and now very scarce indeed, expect to pay £20 or more for a mint copy of these ltds. As far as I can remember both limited edition pressings also came with a commercial picture sleeve as used for the regular pressing.
Two 12" singles surfaced, the first being the regular pressing in p/s (W2948T), the other being a Picture Disc (without insert), which can be found easily for around £15. Finally, a cassette single (W2948C) and rare 3" compact disc single (W2948CD) sealed in plastic outer casing surfaced.

CHERISH
|
Two 7" singles were pressed, a regular (W2883) and 'Gema Biem' Top-Up. Along with two 12" pressings, a regular issue (W2883T) and Picture Disc (W2883TP); this can also be found mis-pressed with a 'Marillion' track instead, and although scarce, either picture disc can be found for less than £20 each. A cassette single (W2883C) and the last 3" compact disc single (W2883CD) also surfaced.

DEAR JESSIE
|
The fourth track to be taken from the 'Prayer' album, and a track that never seemed to appear outside the UK, making British pressings instantly collectable.
The 7" (W2668) was accompanied by a 'Gema Biem' Top-Up, as well as a wonderful '7" Picture Disc (W2688P), the UK's first, and now mega rare, selling for up to £25 mint.
Two 12" pressings surfaced, a regular (W2668T) and a Poster Sleeve limited edition (W2688T) which includes a slightly different back sleeve design. As usual a cassette single (W2688C) hit the shelves along with a compact disc single (W2688CD) (now 5" in diametre). The final pressing was a limited edition Picture Disc CD (W2668CDX) which is now rare and can fetch up to £100 worldwide.
