VOGUE
The first track from 'I'm Breathless', offering a whole array of pressings and some great limited editions.
Five 7" singles surfaced: a regular pressing (W9851), a misspress of the regular single which has B-side pressed twice, two different Top-Ups including a 'Gema Biem' and the first 'Euro Plastic Pressed' silver label copy. Finally, a limited edition Picture Disc (W9851P) surfaced, not so rare as the 'Dear Jessie' pressing but still collectable.
A cassette single (W9851C) and 5" compact disc single (W9851CD) were also available.
Five 12" singles are also available to collect, including a regular pressing (W9851T) and a 'Gema Biem' Top-Up pressing in traditional boxed card sleeve. Followed by three highly collectable limited editions: the first was a regular pressing with "Free Poster" (W9851TW), the next came with an "X Rated Free Poster" (W9851TX) and also included a special 'Dub Remix' and slightly different sleeve design as well as 'TX' catalogue prefix. The last limited edition was a Picture Disc (W9851TP). All these limited pressings fetch good prices and in mint, £15 would be a fair price.
HANKY PANKY
A not too overwhelming two 7" pressings, a regular (W9789) was backed up by a 'Gema Biem' Top-Up. A regular 12" (W9789T) and 'Gema Biem' Top-Up pressing were accompanied by an interesting limited edition (W9789TP) concisting of not only a Picture Disc, but Free Poster and special G/fold picture cover insert thrown in as well and when complete expect to pay around £15. Finally, there is a cassette single (W9789C) and CD (W9789CD), both can still easily be found, which seems to be the case for most Cassettes and CDs pressed from here on.
JUSTIFY MY LOVE
For me the release of 'Justify My Love' was most memorable, a brand new track taken from 'The Immaculate Collection' album, and what a brilliant one at that. I remember the day the 'naughty' version was released and how the radio stations here in the UK would not play it during the day time, only late at night and early morning; the words: "fuck me" comes to mind. I also remember the unique 'video single' released in the shops, the worlds first. And what about that clear vinyl test pressing, another first.
Right, on with the music. Two Top-Ups accompanied the regular 7" (W9000), one 'Gema Biem' and one silver label pressing. A regular 12" (W9000T) was accompanied by the now fairly scarce Picture Disc (W9000TP) which came complete with picture insert. Finally, a regular cassette single (W9000C) and CD (W9000CD) were kept company by a fabulous picture box video single (38225).

Please note: at present there is ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE that ANY coloured vinyl test pressing for 'Borderline', 'Holiday' or 'Justify My Love' have ever been manufactured officially by 'Warners'. In fact these are rumoured to have been manufactured UNOFFICIALLY, after work hours, and done by staff for money making purposes only. So please, if you are going to buy these items, think first as you are NOT paying for an official Madonna collectable. BUT recently a number of "Beatles" singles manufactured in the same way, some thirty years ago went on auction fetching £10,000 ($17,000) each!
REISSUED CRAZY FOR YOU
'Crazy for You' was reissued here in the UK in 1991 and all pressings carried the 'boobs' picture design (in white) as used elsewhere for 'Rescue Me'.
The 7" (W0008) was accompanied by two Top-Ups, a 'Gema Biem' and a 'Euro Plastic Pressed Silver Lable' pressing. A very special Shaped Picture Disc (W0008P) also surfaced (this being the sixth and final shaped pic disc), it came with picture insert and card plinth and although scarce it's certainly not as collectable as the original back in 1985.
A 12" (W0008T) surfaced, and a 'Gema Biem' Top-Up also. These were followed by a cassette single (W0008C) and picture disc CD (W0008CD), which although unique because of it's black and white picture, it wasn't actually a limited edition, but the inclusion of disc graphics certainly caused the price of this otherwise standard pressing to rise, so expect to pay around £15 for a mint copy.
RESCUE ME
'Rescue Me' here in the UK came in unique 'PVC' picture sleeve, this was because we had already used the planned 'boobs' sleeve for 'Crazy For You' reissue (which Europe and America had already used at this time for 'Rescue Me'). The 7" (W0024) pressing was accompanied by a 'Gema Biem' Top-Up. The 12" (W0024T) came with a 'Gema Biem' Top-Up pressing, and a fantastic limited edition with Free Poster also surfaced which is now fairly scarce, although finding a mint copy may be almost impossible, which is prob the case for any UK picture sleeve vinyl issued before 1991, expect to pay up to £15 for a regular prerssing if in perfect condition. Finally, a cassette single (W0024C) and CD (W0024CD) were released.
REISSUED HOLIDAY
The UK appears to be the only country to have once again re-reissued 'Holiday', and most pressings carried the unique 'glitter' bodystocking picture design (including the promo CD). These unique sleeve pressings inluded a 7" (W0037) and 12" (W0037T), and a 'Gema Biem' Top-Up for both. A limited edition 12" Picture Disc with picture insert (W0024TW) also surfaced, and at close examination you might even notice that there are grooves only on one side of the disc. There is cassette single (W0037C) issue but no accompanying CD as this was replaced by a special four track CD EP titled 'The Holiday Collection' (W0037CD), which contained four tracks taken from the 'Immaculate Collection' album, which was also where it's sleeve design came from. There is also a mega rare cassette EP (W0037CT), but I have yet to acquire a copy, and would expect to pay up to £30 for it.
A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN
Used in the film 'A League Of Their Own' which Madonna stared in, although not a great deal surfaced for the collector. The 7" (W0122) came with two Top-Ups, a 'Gema Biem' and a silver label pressing. A regular 12" (W0122T), cassette single (W0122C) and CD single (W0122CD) were also released.
EROTICA
1992 Saw the emergence of the long awaited 'Erotica' album, with the title track single being the first on Madonna's own record label 'Maverick'. The regular 7" (W0138) with newer cream Maverick label design was accompanied by three Top-Ups. The first two Top-Ups were 'Gema Biem' pressings, one was the regular yellow label copy (now rare), which was then replaced with the now traditional cream label copy. The other Top-Up was a silver label pressing.
A Free Poster 12" (W0138TW) was issued, although ALL copies came this way; this later became the practice for most poster and picture disc pressings. No longer were singles pressed seperately as a limited edition, instead all copies were to be pressed as limited edition. Finally, a gold disc graphic CD (W0138CD) and cassette single (W0138C) were released.
For the more adventurous, try collecting 'WEA New Releases' compilation CDs many of which which include a Madonna track.
DEEPER AND DEEPER
Not too much available for the second single from 'Erotica'. Simply a regular 7" (W0146), silver label Top-Up 7", 12" Picture Disc (W0146T) with picture insert, CD single (W0146CD) and cassette single (W0146C).
